VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO

There has always been a rumour that the Europeans have all the best cars; meet the new Volkswagen Scirocco which does absolutely nothing to quash such ideas! Both inside and out this car is a truly magnificent yet totally realistically attainable beast that is of course unless you live in the US.

Hot hatches / sport compacts seem to be all the rage at the moment especially in Europe with all the car manufacturers trying to capitalize on this growing market by either introducing a hot hatch to their line ups or updating their older models. Arguably Volkswagen are the kings of hot hatches particularly with their Golf/Rabbit model, these guys have a long lineage in manufacturing quality cars of this variety, it’s in their DNA and the Scirocco looks like it’s no different.

In terms of power; under the hood the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which will deliver just under 200bhp. The Scirocco comse with a 6-speed gearbox available in manual or Volkswagen’s semi-automatic fancy twin clutch thingy! If like my granny tech specs mean bog all to you in layman’s terms this car’s anything but a slouch! So with all that power you’d think efficiency would be the last thing on Volkswagen’s mind, well you’d be forgetting they’re Germans; efficiency is what they do best so don’t be surprised to see the Scirocco taking you further per gallon than a similar car in it’s class.

It’s on sale as we speak in Europe with US release a controversial yo-yo like fiasco (One minute there will be a US release the next Nada, Zilch, Zip). This new set of wheel will set you back around £20k ($40k, if you could actually get it in the US…not rubbing it in or anything).

The truth is not all of us can afford super cars and this is where hot hatches come in, they provide the advantages of super cars i.e. power, speed and style without many of the disadvantages i.e. cost of the car, high insurance premium and high fuel costs…so basically they don’t burn a hole in your wallet. If you’re in the market for a super car do yourself and your bank balance a favour buy a hot hatch, the environment will love you for it!

Oh and did i mention this car is guaranteed to get you noticed with the ladies.

Jont, you know what i was saying about Volkswagen having a long lineage in manufacturing quality cars of this variety and all that jazz well, dude have you seen the Golf MK5 R32? All i can say is SEX on wheels! Trust me pictures don’t do that car any justice.
