So you have a new iphone, right? Your first upgrade should be headphones. Don’t get me wrong the standard issue earbuds aren’t bad, but they don’t have the greatest sound quality and they are very very uncomfortable.
Being the music aficionado that I am, I have tried several brands everything from Bose to Shure to Sony. I’ve been around the block a few times with headphones so I can suggest with confidence V-moda’s Vibe Duo in-ear earbuds. The main reason these are a good buy is their superior sound quality over the others mentioned. Highs and mids are crisp and the bass in these joints is remarkable. Bose definitely has decent sound quality but they have nearly zero noise cancelling and never stayed in place. The Shure headphones had a sound that took getting used to but they were very comfortable and cancelled much of the NYC noise on my way to work. The V-moda’s however are the PERFECT combination of great sound, great comfort and a great price at about $100 a pair. Sidebar, the Bose ran me about $150 while the Sure were about $275, yea I spent a lot on headphones this year. V-modas come in a few different models and colors, one thing to point out is that there are both Vibe Duo and Vibe models. The Vibe Duo comes with a microphone that is essential for taking phone calls while listening to music. The Vibe model on the other hand does not have a microphone. I have the Vibe Duo in chrome and I have not had a problem yet. I will say that they seem a bit flimsy but at $100 if anything happens I’ll just cop another pair.
