SHARP HDTV’s GO WIRELESS

Posted By: Benjamin Barrows | Comments  0

Sharp has announced a huge advancement in the world of flat panel TVs. Sharp will incorporate Amimon WHDI (Wireless High Definition Interface) 1080p wireless tech into its its super-thin X-series LCD displays, meaning you won’t have to connect any cables to your TV (apart from the power cord). All the connectors and bulky tuning paraphernalia are tucked away in the set-top box. And there’s no need to worry about a loss in picture quality its is said that the picture is still perfect and wireless works at distances up to 100 feet and can go through four or five walls. Adding the wireless option will add about $800 to the cost of an already-expensive TV however I can justify this cost as a plus for you.  I recently bought a Sony Bravia 52” LCD TV in January at approx. $4000 (it was on sale at Best Buy).  What people don’t realize is the TV is only part of the total cost when I was all done.  In order to get the best picture possible you MUST use HDMI cables.  4 feet Monster HDMI cables where about $150 a piece.  However I had my screen mounted above the fireplace, which means the cables had to be run back behind the wall into the basement and back up into the living room.  Of course the longer the HDMI cord the more expensive, so my three 34 foot HDMI cords (3 HDMI inputs) cost me $249 x 3 = $747.  So once you add tax and labor cost for running all those cables your costs are sure to surpass the $800 mark.
