SAAB 9-X AIR BIOHYBRID CONCEPT

Saab unveiled the 9-X BioHybrid Concept hatchback last March at the Geneva Motor Show, and it will be joined next month at the Paris Motor Show by this: the 9-X Air BioHybrid Concept. Both vehicles are said to herald the coming of a production Saab 9-1 small car, but the 9-X Air goes a step further and replaces the original concept’s closed roof with a flat-folding canopy top that’s said to celebrate the brand’s history in the convertible building business. Aside from that, the concepts appear to be almost identical right down to sharing the same turbocharged 1.4L Saab BioPower engine producing 197bhp. We’ll bring you more pics and info of the Saab 9-X Air BioHybrid Concept straight from the show floor in Paris next month.

This is a beaut - Saab is in my opinion underrated. They look great (although the 95 is quite ready for an update) and driving one is pure pleasure. You can tell Saab also manufactures jet crafts - driving a Saab is like sitting in a comfortable cockpit!

And now to the point of my comment... This concept car is amazing - outside and inside. As someone mentioned, "if Saab actually releases anything close to this concept"... Why not be bold enough to produce concept cars? Car companies show their concept to great accolade, but goes ahead three years later and launches a production model that hardly resembles the cool concept car. Are the industry (in so many diciplines) intentionally holding back progress? Let's stick with same same and often boring a few years more, as long as people fork out for it? I am merely saying that Saab would definitely gain popularity and sales if they ever (read: soon!) put this concept car into production.
