NSW HOLIDAY 2010 COLLECTION

Inspired by sport and Nike’s elite performers, Nike Sportswear’s Fall/Holiday 2010 collection looks at Nike’s esteemed history in Running for inspiration. From the early innovation of Bowerman, to the Athletics West program of the late 70’s, Nike’s design team doesn’t just look back at the amazing archives of products, philosophies and stories, but looks to continue to innovate for athletes today. Whether that is in the form of reshaping footwear and apparel for a new era, or taking the best parts of creations of the past and remixing elements to create all new styles. Looking at some alternative running clubs that are surfacing around the world, there’s an obvious movement towards a new way the world see’s running. No longer is the daily runner conservative and single-focused, but they’re creative, influential, and uses running not just as a means to stay fit, but to break away and find a creative space.

NSW DESTROYER: The NSW Destroyer Jacket is Nike Sportswear’s take on a high-school classic, the letterman jacket. Like the AW77, The NSW Destroyer Jacket is released in a number of different ways for Fall/Holiday 2010, for men and women. The challenge wasn’t to redesign the classic letterman jacket, but to improve some of the elements of what was already an iconic piece.

NIKESPORTSWEAR LUNARWOOD: Inspired by the harsh Scandinavian winters coupled with some of Nike’s performance running technologies, the Nike Lunarwood offers superior protection with a distinct look and feel. Dreamt up in a world of graffiti and nocturnal expeditions, the Nike Lunarwood has been beautifully curated with design details such as Nike’s ACG triangle logo, complete with a crescent moon to keep the outdoor spirit. Originally launched in December’09 in partnership with Wood Wood, the Nike Lunarwood for Fall/Holiday looks set to be a classic.

NIKE SPORTSWEAR LUNARBOOT: Created by Nike’s ACG design team, its easy to see why the shoe was adopted by Nike Sportswear. Work wear and outdoor trends lead the way, and for good reason, outdoor sports and ACG product in particular require function and durability beyond any other performance orientated sport. The classic duck boot has become a staple style item for the winter in recent seasons, given the modern lightweight technology of Nike’s Lunar foam without losing any of its rustic appeal, the Nike Lunarboot becomes the leader in a very popular field of style.
