As times get tough, commercial artist/designer Nigel Evan Dennis has been churning out some high quality personal work. The struggle between making money and creating meaningful work usually leads to an artist sacrificing his or her output in favor of a hefty paycheck. Not so for Nigel Evan Dennis. His recent stew of artwork is blocky, simple, colorful, and refreshing. With triangle/pyramid shaped wooden blocks taking the center stage, Dennis’s trademark splash of color words it’s way in more subtly than before. It’s good to see an artist take a chance with their personal work and have the results still make an impact.
