MINI Coupe Concept Says Hello

One of the most exciting concepts to come out of the BMW/MINI labs this year, the Mini Coupe Concept celebrates Mini’s 50 year anniversary in the automobile industry. Based along the lines of John Cooper Works design language, the MINI Coupe is due to make its debut next month at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The layout of the coupe concept speaks to the MINI Roadster rumors circling around the interwebs with its two-seater design and low hung roof lines. The Coupe Concept isn’t cargo friendly, with it’s lack of trunk space, or err boot for our Oxford, England readers. The only place to put your baggage is behind the seats. The storage space measures only 8.8 cubic feet and in the production model it is said to be accessible through the back hatch. Under the bonnet, remember this is a MINI were speaking of, the Coupe will share the John Cooper Works 1.6-liter turbocharged four cylinder good for 211 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. The interior will be very familiar to current MINI owners as it will share many components with the current MINIs with a touch of luxury. A final design slated for production has not been nailed down yet but the production model could be seen on the roads in two or three years. MINI is considering officially calling the Coupe Concept the Speedwell, Broadspeed or the Downton. I’m sure whatever the final name and design is, it will put smiles on MINI fans faces from here to England. Source
