I was trying to find out where I could buy this.
And then I saw it was a concept, hurry up and make it I
need a hobby that will get me out of the house at night.

I actually reckon that VA should be perfectly acceptable taking into account the actual subject media and the actual purpose, equally I think the that concept of relying on the computing power of the laptop is really good, too.

People seem to miss the point of things like this: Simplicity, affordabilty and compatibilty.

People dealing with super-high end graphickery aren't going to look twice at this. Nor are those with bottomless pockets, unless they want it as a toy.

VGA and USB mean reasonable price and guaranteed compatibilty with pretty much any projector or legacy video wall you might bump into.

Absolutely great looking piece of kit, too.

[...] Okay, the gig’s in an hour, and you’ve got the beats, but what about the visuals? Don’t panic. Just run a laptop through the Cue VJ hardware/software combo and start mixing video on the fly. All the clips are displayed and selectable on a 15.4-inch touch screen. A knob fader controls effects such as scaling, rotation and movement. There is, of course, a vast library of videos and presets to choose from, so you’re good to go with little preparation. Wait, what’s this? The Cue VJ is just a concept, with no concrete product on the horizon? Fair enough, resume panicking. [via FlyLyf] [...]

intresting idea...pretty cool concept, would like more specs...for the amount of processing that it would need to do, having it work as a second moniter with a USB data transport (basically a big giant mouse) seems like it might be too much for alot of laptops to handle. Also (unless your using a USB video card, which are too slow for data processing) the VGA out on a laptop has a single DAC(one video stream)...you wouldn't be able to do a passthrough from this device to the projector as pictured. Also VGA is noisy and outdated, with this many passes single loss and degradation is a sure thing.

not being a jerk or toll, but looking at design concepts subjectively is important.

it should be a standalone device (laptop with touchscreen?) and should have more video ports: hdmi (must have) & svid (optional...); two graphics cards will be nice...
anyway - touch screen and a knob are good solutions
