“Crystal Mesh” On The Streets Of Singapore

Iluma, Singapore’s urban retail centre has recently gotten a bit of a make over. The building is covered in an array flashing hexagonal lights for a project by Berlin-based art and architecture studio realities:united called “Crystal Mesh.” The project was unveiled in a showing last month covering 5,180 square meters of the building. The “crystal elements” are made from a transulecent, polycarbonate hull and aluminum backplating. Between the layers lies anywhere from one to seven individually controlable light sources while other layers are left dim to create a layered appearance. The “Crystal Mesh” project will be fully open in conjunction with an artistic program at the center starting December 2009. Source
