Sound meets sculpture in Felix Thorn’s English manor

In the latest episode of Sound Builders they travel to Sussex, England to meet Felix Thorn. He considers himself “an artist who thinks he’s a scientist” but we like to think of him as a guy who builds some of the most visually pleasing instruments we’ve ever laid eyes upon. That doesn’t mean his contraptions don’t also make eardrums happy — they do. By repurposing salvaged items, he makes room-sized, MIDI-controlled one man bands out of anything and everything that will make a noise. Antique pianos. Car parts. Doesn’t matter to Felix.
