Tomorrow is Today is the latest mixtape release from Brooklyn bred emcee Fresh Daily. During a time when our airwaves are flooded with auto-tuned voices and what I refer to as “chant raps” Fresh Daily is truly a breath of fresh air. Any hip hop fan will appreciate Fresh’s clever word play and creative delivery. But let’s be honest what good are lyrics if the beats are stale, not the case here. I am very picky with beat production but was thoroughly impressed with what I heard on this mixtape. Standout tracks for me are “Starz”, “Apollo 13”, “Jump” and “Say You Won’t” which is a remix of Kanye West’s “Say You Will”. Download, take a listen and let me know what you think.

THE HOBBIT: CASTING

The casting race is on for The Hobbit and there are whisperings that Bilbo Baggins maybe played by actor James McAvoy. The Scottish actor has played the naive doctor to Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland, a feisty young Irishman confined to a wheelchair, in Rory O’Shea Was Here and the gentle faun, Mr. Tumnus in The Chronicles of Narnia. Most recently McAvoy will be starring opposite Angelina Jolie in the thriller Wanted set to open in June. So will McAvoy make a good Bilbo? I say yes! Especially since another rumor names Jack Black as Bilbo Baggins?!?!?!?

MGS4 is probably the most anticipated game for PS3 this year. It will be interesting to see how this game stacks up against recent console releases. One thing is for sure MGS4 definitely has huge shoes to fill following COD4 and GTA4. Check out the video below, the gameplay and cut scenes look fantastic. Can’t wait to get a hold of this one .

THE FUTURE OF INTERACTIVE TV

Remember you heard it here first! Within the next 10 years or so your television and your computer will be ONE! What the industry is learning is that more and more people are leaving the couch in front of the TV and spending more and more of their time in front of the computer. What does this mean? Well believe it or not television programming is not developed for your entertainment. Television programming is the filler for the bigger initiative…. ad dollars! Programming is a huge money maker for advertisers whether directly or indirectly. You see a commercial for Vonage and you say to yourself “I need that!” So you buy it. You see a car in a movie and you say “I need that!” So you buy it. Now you may be asking yourself “Benjamin, why does this mean my TV and computer will be one??” The answer is this. Currently advertisers are shifting their money from traditional media (televison) to interactive media (internet). As you can guess, television doesn’t like this very much. On the other hand, the internet is becoming everything society needs for entertainment and news. The net also allows FREEDOM to watch what you want to watch when you want to watch it. Read what you want to read when you want to read it. However currently there is a constant battle between the net and television over content. As I’m sure you understand, networks such as CBS, FOX and HBO don’t want to give their programming away for free. So the only thing that will make everyone happy is a happy marriage between the two. An alliance between traditional and interactive media will make both mediums stronger. Television will be able retain viewers to keep their advertisers happy and the net will get all the content they want without pissing off the tv folks. Imagine watching television and having fully interactive content with the use of a Wii like mouse/remote…… So what do you think? I’m I crazy or is this the natural progression of tv and the net?

Converse and Small Forward Kyle Korver from the Utah Jazz are to announce the MyChucks contest, which allows participants to design a Chuck Taylor All Star and win the grand prize of having their personalized Converse All Star exclusively sold by Eastbay. The Grand Prize winner will be flown to the Converse headquarters, where he/she will work with designers and others to re-create their shoe. The final version of the shoe will then be produced and sold on Eastbay.com in January 2009

IRON MAN 2

Since opening day everyone has been talking about the teaser footage at the end of Iron Man where Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury makes mention of the “Avenger Project” hinting at a possible Avenger movie. But that’s not the only hint given in the movie. There are already rumors that Iron Man 2 has a release date of April 30th 2010 and if that’s the case there man be a hint to support it in the current Iron Man. There is also a scene right before Iron Man’s battle with Obidiah Stan where Rhodes (played by Terrence Howard) looks at the second suit and says “Next time baby” could be a hint that there may be a sequel that includes War Machine. For those that need a little background…… In the comics Rhodes uses the War Machine armor as Iron Man after Stark fakes his own death. Upon the revelation that Stark is alive, the relationship between the two is fractured and they go their separate ways. Rhodes continues to use the War Machine armor in a solo superhero career, occasionally fighting alongside Stark. So the question is……Will there be an Iron Man 2 and if so was this scene a hint that War Machine will make an appearance in it? Be sure to look for more clues in the upcoming Incredible Hulk movie.

PLAYSTATION & NISSAN GT ACADEMY

Now this is Hot!! Nissan has joined forces with PlayStation to form a competition that merges virtual and real-life racing. GT Academy, allows candidates to enter an online Gran Turismo 5 Prologue tournament hosted on the PlayStation Network. The two finalists of the competition will win a chance to earn their racing licences and a real-life race driving a Nissan 350Z as part of the Nissan team at the 24H endurance race in Dubai in January 2009.The GT Academy will go live at the end of May and to enter, you must register, via your PS3s on the Playstation Network (PSN) so be on the lookout. I don’t have a PS3 right now but I will by the end of the month just to participate.

PSP iPHONE RELEASE!!!

No not quite but Sony releasing a console/phone device such as this isn’t a far fetched idea. The one thing the iphone and its clones doesn’t have is gaming so there is a market, in my opinion. Plus the market that would this device would appeal to are a younger demo graphic who still carry sidekicks. And yes I know Nokia tried this with the N-gage but Nokia doesn’t have a Sony following so you can’t really compare the two. So would this work? What do you think?
