Audi Introduces The E-Tron Concept

To German automaker Audi, the future is now and there isn’t any more evidence needed other than to look at their latest concept unveiled at the Frankfurt Autoshow, the E-Tron Concept. The E-Tron will seem familiar upon first glance as it is based off of the R8 framework and chassis. But the power source and the inside of the car are something very brand new. The interior is very modern with it’s flowing curves and pure simplicity in design. Audi’s said new electric powertain is certainly something that dreams are made of. There are four motors in this car, two at each front wheel and two at each back wheel making the car a true quattro. With power numbers pegged at 313 hp and 3,319 lb-ft of torque…. no that’s not a typo… it makes me wonder why the heck are we still using gasoline!?! The E-Tron will get you from 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds and from 60 to 120 mph in 4.1 seconds. If this is the future of electric cars, then I am all for it but I am certainly going to miss the sweet rumble of a V8 and the ear piercing sound of a blow-off valve from a twin-turbo V6. Hopefully we can meet somewhere in the middle eventually but regardless, this is one step closer to make electric vehicles more attractive to true gearheads. Source
