ARTitecture Set To Define London Skyline
Posted by: Joey Babs | Comments
Dubbed “The Shard”, also known as the London Bridge Tower, is a skyscraper that will stretch the imagination an astounding 1017ft tall when construction is completed in 2012. Upon completion, The Shard will be the tallest building in the U.K. and amongst one of the tallest buildings in all of Europe. The company heading design and construction on the project is the Paris, France based Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Some key design cues on the 72-story building include twisting glass facets on the exterior of the tower and the inside will consist of offices, apartments, restaurants and a whopping 15-story observation deck. The Shard blends the fine lines between art, design, construction and utility. Let’s just hope all that glass is tempered…. Visit Renzo Piano Building for some amazing samples of their work!
