What is Aladygma? There is some speculation that it could be a code name for a Cloverfield sequel, or it could be a completely new film using the same type of cryptic viral campaign to intrigue audiences, or it could be complete bullshit. There are some clues out there in cyber space that could both support or discredit all theories above. Let’s take a look at some of these clues to try to get a better understanding of what could be going on. CLUE 1: aladygma.com First lets take a look at the word itself. ALADYGMA - if spelled in reverse, closely resembles the word AMYGDALA. According to wikipedia.org the amygdalae are almond-shaped groups of neurons located deep within the medial temporal lobes of the brain in complex vertebrates, including humans. Shown in research to perform a primary role in the processing and memory of emotional reactions. If you go to the site www.aladygma.com , there is nothing that directly relates to CLoverfield or any J.J. Abrams project for that matter. However upon landing on the site there is a small, yet creepy resemblance to some of the early Cloverfield hints. Once you get to the page, centered, squarely on it are the numbers 00 | 11 | 22 | 88 (pictured below). Above the numbers reads: ’start date’ - in the bottom right corner reads: ‘coming soon next day!’ and ‘follow the whitespaces’. At first glance it seems as if that is all there is to it, no further information, no further links. But if you select all (ctrl + a) you see that there are a number of small links hidden and highlighted. This is pictured below.
These 6 links take you to 6 additional pages. The first link takes you to an almost identical page, except in the upper left hand corner are the words ‘thomas ist ein lügner’ spelled backwards. In German this translates to Thomas is a liar. Also the number sequence in the middle changes to ‘00 | 11 | 28 | 28′. This is pictured below.
The next links takes you to a page where the center content changes to: (small text) ’student thomas | room 211′ (large text) ‘211 | 2008′ Pictured below.
Link 3 takes you to a blue screen with a x-ray image of a human skull and neck. Shown below.
Link 4 takes you to a white screen with a graphically stylized image of a girl peeking through a semi opened door with a look of horror on her face, as well as the number 211 written on it. See below.
The next link, number 5 leads to a red page with an image of a torn off section of a New York subway map. Circled on the map is the Chambers St station and written next to it are the words ‘102 North End Ave’. There is also what looks like a bloody shoeprint on the map. Right underneath the section of map is a page from the New York Times, dated September 12, 2001. What does this mean? Well I did a little digging, and although it may be nothing, I’ve found that the Embassy Suites New York reside at that address, 102 North End Ave, standing right in the heart of New York’s Financial District. As far as the date on the newspaper, you can rearrange the numbers from the landing page to get 12 | 2001, but that still leaves the two eights. Any thoughts? You can see this image below.
The 6th and final link takes you to a page with a series of transitioning images. “And finally, an image of the Pioneer Plaque that was sent into space back in the ’70s, which contains rudimentary details about the human race in case extraterrestrials encountered it; if you stay on that screen a biohazard symbol appears with an arrow pointing to it, and then what looks like an infant alien from the alien series appears. This is probably the most confounding and descriptive detail thus far.” via firstshowing.net. Further information about the pioneer plaque can be found here. The series can be viewed below.
If you go back and take a look at the numbers on the initial screen and rearrange them you get ‘1-18-2008′ which was of course an early working title for Cloverfield as well as the movie’s release date. Is this a definitive hint to a sequel? Keep in mind that the numbers can be rearranged in an almost infinite number of possibilities. Right now this is purely speculation. CLUE 2: thewhitespaces.com The page doesn’t resemble the aladygma site, but in the title bar of the page it does read ‘a.l.a.d.y.g.m.a.’ The site also features a video that cycles through various clips and images including a nuclear test, an alien autopsy, godzilla, UFO sightings, a man eating fire, a flower blooming, and a shuttle launch. The last few frames depict two messages. First it reads ‘follow the whitespaces’ and then ‘00 | 11 | 28 | 88′. It has also been stated that there are explicit Cloverfield references scattered throughout the source code of the site. Some of the stills can be seen below.
CLUE 3: thenightshot.com Thenightshot uses a similar select all feature to reveal hidden links. Once all has been selected the words ‘find me’ appear as well as a line to various cryptic symbols. Displayed on top of the image at the bottom there is also a number sequence ‘00:01:15:14′. Not quite sure if this is at all connected, although this video is rather interesting. CLUE 4: http://www.1-18-08.com/ On the 1-18-08 site a new photo was added. It reads ‘MISSING, Teddy Hanssen, last seen 12/07/2007′. On the reverse side is a symbol and some letters or numbers, too small for me to make out. However the symbol on the back of this photograph also appears in the upper left hand corner of the slusho.jp website. Pictured below.
CLUE 5: Auszug von Band 4, s.g. Dez 08 n. U. An odd German youtube clip that strangely resembles the look and feel of CLoverfield, maybe too similar to be anything other than a cheap knock off or spoof, but the German factor may tie in with the “Thomas is a liar” part. On the youtube page, one of the first comments is “Dieses ist es. Dieses ist das Ende. Zuerst nimmt es den Ozean dann Amerika, jetzt es sucht die Welt in Angriff.” Which translates into “This is it. This is the end. First it takes the ocean then to America, now it looks for the world in attack.” One of the less coherent comments says “Noch jemand, der auf dieser Welle mitschwimmen will? Which translates into “Still someone, which wants to along-swim on this wave? But the symbols are really ridiculous…:) Naja, everyone wants here its Aladygma/Cloverfield fun. The Aladygma side is however of Michael black and also only one fun….mal sees, when everyone checkt!” — via Kevin. The third symbol seems to refer to a “raid, riding or journey” (52:5). The last symbol (16:1) refers to water, or the sea. So we have a secret surrounding Loki that involves a journey. Or maybe we have a secret journey to Loki. Either way, I think the runes as individual symbols, rather than a single word, makes for more interesting discussion. — via Paul Any further information on this would be greatly appreciated.
